Inverse Contract Results: Keep Settlement Coin and Reporting Value Separate
An inverse-contract formula can produce a result in the settlement coin rather than the currency printed in the price. Preserve that unit before adding fees, reporting values or an evaluation account comparison. A percent change in the quote is a different calculation.

State the exact mathematical model
For this teaching example only, define a long inverse result as N × (1/Pentry − 1/Pexit), where N is a supplied quote-currency contract amount and prices are quote currency per settlement coin. The model omits costs and other position mechanics.
An actual contract needs its own specification, side, multiplier and settlement rules. HashHedge availability for this exact inverse product is not established by this article. A generic crypto-futures label cannot supply those details.
Calculate in settlement coin first
With fictional N = 1,000, entry 20,000 and exit 22,000, the result is approximately 0.00454545 settlement coins. If a separate dated reporting valuation uses 22,000 quote units per coin, that amount values to 100 quote units.
At a different supplied reporting valuation of 21,000, the same coin amount values to about 95.4545. The valuation changed while the original settlement quantity did not. Neither figure is a bank receipt, current quote or complete account profit after fees.
| Field | Input or calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Contract amount / entry / exit | 1,000 / 20,000 / 22,000 | Defined teaching model |
| Settlement result | 1,000 × (1/20,000 − 1/22,000) | ≈ 0.00454545 coin |
| Reporting price 22,000 | Coin result × 22,000 | 100 quote units |
| Reporting price 21,000 | Same coin result × 21,000 | ≈ 95.4545 quote units |
Keep the account comparison in its defined unit
This site’s inverse-contract calculator remains the companion for settlement arithmetic. A Singapore date display should retain the original instant and explicit reporting currency. Do not infer SGD or an evaluation balance unit from location.
Before comparing an account to its loss conditions, reconcile every asset and the provider’s valuation method. The optional HashHedge affiliate link is to current product information, with no inverse-product entitlement or expected-return claim.
